Valhalla Base Camp
The Base Camp on the island of Seglvik, located in the north of Norway in the Kvaenangen Fjord, will be your home for the duration of your trip. Look forward to the pure nature and a life like an adventurer.
According to the Norwegian way of living, you will move into one of the rooms, but the communal life and meals will take place in the Whale House. Strengthen yourself, play games with your fellow travellers or use the sauna and jacuzzi to relax.
Your inclusive services: Accommodation and catering at the base camp as well as the use of sauna and jacuzzi are included for you.
Orca Watching Norway
Orcas are fascinating animals that live together in so-called schools or pods. An orca family usually consists of eight to twelve animals, led by the oldest female, the leader.
Even though the killer whales can be found from the far north to the deep south of the Antarctic, the individual populations are threatened by environmental changes. That is why Valhalla Expedition favours a respectful and animal-friendly approach. This is expressed, for example, in:
- The boats, which have the quietest possible engines so as not to disturb the animals.
- A trained approach to the animals, keeping a distance from them and refraining from chasing the orcas.
- The training of guests on how to behave in contact with orcas (from the boat or in the water).

The best chance of seeing orcas is in November. Please note, however, that spotting animals and snorkelling with orcas or other animals cannot be guaranteed.
How close will the boat get to the orcas?
How close will the boat get to the orcas?
The boat crew are familiar with the orcas and try to disturb them as little as possible, which means keeping a certain distance from the orcas. How large this distance will be depends on how safe the situation is for animals and humans, but also on whether the orcas approach the boat. If the orcas dive and disappear, they will not be pursued.
Does whale watching disturb the orcas?
Does whale watching disturb the orcas?
Every venture into foreign habitats has the potential to disturb or at least irritate their inhabitants. However, trained whale watchers, such as those on Valhalla expeditions, attach great importance to minimising any possible disturbance caused by this advance. The boats approach at a slow pace with quiet engines. If the animals disappear, they are not pursued and if there are too many boats in the area, they are turned away. The team also prevents disturbances by training guests on how to behave on the boat and in the water.
