When spring comes, I'll send you tulips from Amsterdam - already in 1959 Mieke Telkamp sang about the tulips in Amsterdam, you can now marvel at the beautiful flowers up close. A whole 32 hectares full of daffodils and tulips await you at Keukenhof near Amsterdam.

Every year, Keukenhof Amsterdam attracts more than 1.4 million visitors in just eight weeks, the only time when the colourful tulips are in bloom. The park's guests also enjoy the weekly flower shows and sculptures by more than 50 artists that decorate the park from time to time.

Between lakes and bright green meadows, let yourself be enchanted by more than seven million flower classics - with the tulip at the centre of attention, of course. Take a relaxing boat trip through Keukenhof or rent a bicycle at the entrance and explore Keukenhof in the Netherlands on a bike tour. And children don't miss out in the flower park either: at Keukenhof Holland there are scavenger hunts, a maze and a playground for the little adventurers!

Historical flair at Keukenhof

In the 15th century, the area that is now Keukenhof served as an estate with a herb garden for the castle kitchen. In 1857, the estate near Amsterdam was transformed into a palace garden by landscape architect Jan David Zocher and opened for flower shows in 1949. Since 1959 flower lovers of all kinds and holidaymakers in Holland can marvel at the park.

The tulip belongs to the lily family and, with almost 150 species, is widespread all over the world. In common parlance, the colourful plant not only stands for affection and love, but is also a well-known symbol of the Netherlands.

A total of more than 800 different types of flowers await you in various pavilions:

  • Willem Alexander Pavilion: tulips and lilies
