Description

ZEPPELIN – The Musical at the Festspielhaus Neuschwanstein

A great dream, groundbreaking visions and the beginning of a new era: ZEPPELIN – The Musical tells the moving story of Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin and his unwavering dream of flying. Look forward to a musical journey through time full of passion, setbacks and great triumphs.

The successful musical by Ralph Siegel combines historical events with emotional stories and impressive music. Spectacular show elements and elaborate stage sets bring the era of airship travel to life – including a zeppelin floating directly above the audience.

ZEPPELIN – between vision and tragedy

The musical intertwines two gripping stories: While you accompany Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin on his journey from visionary to pioneer of aviation, a second storyline tells of the last flight of the legendary LZ 129 Hindenburg and its tragic end in 1937.

Love and passion meet historical upheavals, great dreams and moving destinies – embedded in the music of Ralph Siegel and a monumental production.

The story of ZEPPELIN

Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin pursues an idea that hardly anyone initially believes possible: He wants to conquer the skies with huge steerable airships. Despite resistance and setbacks, he sticks to his vision and thus writes an important chapter in aviation history.

At the same time, the musical takes you back to the time of the Hindenburg. Its last flight marks the dramatic end of an era and is told against the backdrop of the political developments of the 1930s. This creates an emotional musical epic between departure, progress and tragedy.

Festspielhaus Neuschwanstein in Füssen

A story of such great visions needs an extraordinary stage: At the Festspielhaus Neuschwanstein, impressive sets and modern stage technology provide spectacular images. Located directly on Lake Forggensee, the theatre also offers you a unique view of the Allgäu mountains and Neuschwanstein Castle.

Festspielhaus Neuschwanstein Hall Information

  • Theatre hall with 1,355 seats
  • Germany's largest musical revolving stage
  • Over 1,000 m² stage area
  • On-stage water basin with a capacity of 90,000 litres

One of the absolute highlights even awaits you above your heads: For the production, two Zeppelin models were specially constructed. Among them is an approximately ten-metre-long, remote-controlled airship that floats over the audience and impressively brings the fascination of aviation at that time into the theatre hall.
